West Yorkshire Police is currently recruiting for administration apprenticeships who are committed and enthusiastic individuals into vacant apprenticeship roles within its Transport Department.

The Administration Apprenticeship:
Transports administration team is based in Wakefield and consists of five administrators, a collision coordinator and the administration team leader. Transport administration is a busy department and have the following responsibilities:

- Provide administration support to a very busy workshop reception, team leaders and higher management when requested.
- Provide administrative support for all aspects of the Vehicle preparation process for approximately 300 new and 200 disposal vehicles a year.
- Assist with over 2,600 workshop visits for service, over 5,500 repairs and 1,400 collision repair incidents per year.
- Maintain 1,300 maintenance schedules per year.
- Input information into a bespoke vehicle fleet system creating job cards for technicians and to add times accurately of the works completed, allocate vehicles and service schedules.
- Arrange collection, recovery, and delivery of vehicles efficiently by utilising 2 recovery trucks and 6 drivers throughout the day whilst trying to be mindful of the limited car parking facilities.

This is an 18-month apprenticeship where you will work alongside a mentor who will teach and guide you when on site for four days of the week. The fifth day of the week will be spent on day release to college where you will study and complete a business administration course to level 3.

Further information regarding the apprenticeship:
For the apprenticeships you will be expected to attend College one day a week (in term time) to successfully complete the relevant qualification for the role, it is essential that you are willing to attend further education to undertake and pass the relevant City and Guilds/ NVQ3 qualifications and develop your knowledge and skills in line with the Police Competency Framework and Personal Development Reviews (PDR).

The required qualifications:
Due to the academic element of the training, there is an expectation that applicants will have a minimum of 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at A*-C/9-4, these should include English and Maths.

You must have the potential to achieve industry standard performance requirements and must be physically capable of undertaking the duties of the post, as well as being willing to work from alternative garages/locations.

The administration apprenticeship is a fixed term for 18-months.
