Are you passionate about working with communities and partner organisations to find sustainable solutions to flood risk problems? Are you looking for the next step on the career ladder? Or currently working in a related field and looking for a new challenge?
Norfolk County Council Flood and Water team covers two main areas of work:
A) Investigate and report on flood events. Develop and maintain a computerised register of assets. Update flood risk policies and studies. Provide technical support and advice for works that affect ordinary watercourses. Develop, manage and monitor flood risk mitigation schemes with partner organisations which will include bidding for and claiming external funding.
Initially it is expected that the majority of work will be in the first area (A). However, there will be opportunities to work within the wider scope of the LLFA, and it is expected that if appointed, you will have a flexible approach to undertaking related work as dictated by the needs of the business.
This role would suit someone with project management experience from an environmental, landscape or engineering background. Knowledge of SuDS design or bid writing and an ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of stakeholders is essential. Applicants should also have experience of undertaking relevant fieldwork and working with GIS systems.
In return we can offer a varied caseload, training and support to increase your technical competence and achieve your professional goals.
Norfolk County Council also offers flexible working arrangements, a local government pension, generous annual leave, and a comprehensive package of staff benefits through the Norfolk Rewards Scheme.
