**What you need to know about the role**
- Our Raw Materials Procurement team ensures the seamless delivery of bulk raw materials—such as iron ore and carbon fuels—into Immingham Bulk Terminal (IBT). By maintaining an efficient supply chain, we enable business operations to function at optimal cost while ensuring security, flexibility, and reliability.
- As **Planning & Scheduling Lead**, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the timely arrival of raw materials at IBT. Your objective will be to maintain the lowest stock levels while minimizing demurrage costs, ensuring operations run smoothly.
**Key Responsibilities**
- In your role as Planning & Scheduling Lead you will;
- Procure raw materials, negotiating and confirming laycans with suppliers, and securing improvements where possible.
- Manage forward planning, reviewing vessel schedules and laycans to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Lead weekly laycan control meetings, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
- Assess vessel nominations, working closely with IBT and suppliers for approval.
- Enhance visibility of key supply chain data to support stock and demurrage targets.
- Review freight invoices and laytime calculations received from owners and shippers.
- Oversee customs clearance, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- React proactively to supply chain disruptions, identifying solutions to minimize impact.
- Success in this role depends on strong collaboration and relationship-building. You will work closely with suppliers, the Inbound Shipping Manager, Senior Category Managers, IBT Manager, and other stakeholders to maintain a cost-effective, uninterrupted flow of raw materials for British Steel.
**What we need to know about you**
We’re looking for an experienced professional in logistics and/or supply chain management, ideally from the dry bulk shipping industry or with a raw materials background.
- To thrive in this role, you should:
- Be confident, proactive, and solutions-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Have strong negotiation and organizational skills to drive efficient procurement and scheduling.
- Possess the ability to influence senior stakeholders, balancing commercial priorities with operational needs.
- Communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Dry bulk shipping experience are advantageous but not essential.
- This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the challenge of managing complex supply chains and driving continuous improvement in procurement operations.
