**_So what exactly would you be responsible for?_**
You'll be part of a cross-functional team, working alongside the business, product owners, data scientists, machine learning engineers and Business Intelligence specialists to solve some of the Bank's toughest business problems.
You will provide critical 'data expertise' to help shape the approach to solving the problem and contributing new/interesting datasets into the mix.
You'll develop high quality, reusable data pipelines at scale, ingesting structured and unstructured data into our data lake, and feature engineering for machine learning or curating data for consumption through analytics and BI.
You'll be working in a variety of server and cloud environments, using state of the art toolsets, as well as evaluating exciting new technologies to expand our capabilities

- An Inquisitive nature - do you like to gather information and join the dots?
- An enthusiasm for problem solving & analysis - you'll be investigating and analysing data to recommend and support solutions for customers
- Good stakeholder management skills - you'll be collaboratively working with colleagues from different areas across Insurance & Wealth and the Group in order to understand and provide value and insight for our customers
- Well defined planning & organising skills as things could change and you'll need to adapt to a flexible agenda
**_What we would like to see:_**:

- Experience with big data tools, such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka etc
- Experience with object-oriented scripting languages such as Python, Scala, Java etc
- Experience of performing ETL processes
- Advanced working knowledge of SQL and comfortable working with relational and non-relational databases to build data solutions, such as SQL Server/Oracle/Teradata,
- Experience of building, optimising and delivering Big Data pipelines, architectures and datasets
- Computer science fundamentals: a clear understanding of data structures & modelling, algorithms, software design, design patterns
- Knowledge of Insurance, Pensions & Investments Product would be desirable.
- Excellent communication & good interpersonal skills
