Night Shift Maintenance Fitter

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced maintenance fitter to join our maintenance team on a permanent night shift pattern, and help us embed improved maintenance practices and procedures.
**Key areas of responsibility**
**Day to Day Machinery and Equipment Repair and Maintenance**
Demonstrate a good mechanical understanding of machine and equipment, ensuring work is completed to a high standard using safe practices. This includes:
- Carry out daily maintenance tasks as directed.
- Complete required PPM tasks and checks, and ensure accurate record keeping (within duties)
- Be flexible when unplanned maintenance/breakdowns occur.
- Work alongside production staff to ensure efficient plant output is maintained.
- Ensure site housekeeping is maintained at a high standard.
- Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard and in a safe and efficient manner, following all safety protocols, procedures & safe methods of work.
- Communicate with Supervisor/Manager as to problems and progress.
- Ensure high safety & quality standards are maintained.
- Set a good example and standard to others.
- Be prepared to work on a shift rotation - Earlies, Lates or nights.
- After probationary period be part of a 1 in 5 weeks call out rota, be able to attend call out immediately if on call.
- Carry out other tasks as designated by the management of the company.
While this is a permanent Night Shift position, during probation (approx. 3 months) this will be an 6am - 2pm shift pattern. This will facilitate the necessary familiarisation and training with the Maintenance team on our processes and equipment.
**Health & Safety and General Organisation and Housekeeping**
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation on the plant and pro-actively monitor and take responsibility for all aspects of health and safety whilst performing day to day duties. This includes:
- Working in line with the company housekeeping standards.
- Ensure the Health and Safety rules and standards are adhered to at all times. Demonstrating responsibility for yourself and others.
- Ensuring that all accidents are correctly recorded, and all Health and Safety concerns are reported and addressed.
- Ensure that correct PPE is worn and maintained. Identify any worn or damaged PPE to management for replacements.
- Ensure all tools and lifting equipment are used in line with training and company procedures. Report any faulty or damaged equipment to management for replacement or repair and remove from use.

- Following PPM correctly
- Following all H&S guidelines.
- All work carried out on time to a high standard.
- Delivering projects on time.
- Efficiency, quality, housekeeping maintained at a high standard.
**Experience and qualifications**
**Experience**
- Experience of working within, and assisting with developing, a planned maintenance culture
- Demonstrable good understanding of Health and Safety requirements in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
**Essential qualifications**
- Recognised time served apprenticeship/training.
- Full UK Driving licence
- Forklift Truck licence (If no licence must be confident in usage, and undergo testing on site)
**Desirable qualifications**
- Qualified industrial forklift truck operator.
- Qualified Overhead crane operator.
- Mobile plant machinery fault finding and rectification.
- Abrasive wheel regulations.
- Working at Height awareness.
- Manual Handling awareness.
- Safety awareness CITB or equivalent.
- HNC or HND Engineering
**Knowledge and Skills**
- Mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems understanding.
- Able to read engineering drawings.
- Basic welding.
- Able to work within a team or independently as required.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with production and ensure that maintenance requirements are understood and followed
- Can do attitude, focusing on the betterment of the business.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £14.28-£15.86 per hour
