We are currently looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our team based at Burslem in Stoke-on-Trent. This role is ideally suited to somebody local within ½ hour travel response time.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter role is part of the maintenance team based at Burslem in Stoke–on-Trent.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter you will be responsible for:-

  • Responding to plant breakdowns ensuring assets are returned to production in a timely manner, and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution
  • Undertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment
  • Liaison in preventative maintenance and execution of planned shutdowns
  • Owning small scale projects and delivering them in a pragmatic and proactive manner as part of a team.
  • Taking a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and participating in root cause analysis so that repeat failures can be eliminated
  • Coordinating with contractors and suppliers when they are on site
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experience.
  • Maintaining and promoting Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision. You should also demonstrate proven experience working within a heavy Industrial, Chemical or Refinery environment.

Suitable candidates for the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will:

  • Have a strong, practical, mechanical systems background - drive systems, motors, pumps, gearboxes, fans, agitators, pipework.
  • Possess a fault finding ability to identify defects and recommend/ Initiate appropriate action
  • Possess the ability to remove and fit bearings and mechanical seals
  • Be capable of undertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipment
  • Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly
  • Demonstrate Knowledge of SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices
  • Show evidence of several years of proven experience in a similar field
