Adult Social Care is part of the People Directorate within Coventry City Council. We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose and our approach which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care, and we continue to work in support of this.

Adult Social Care encompasses a wide range of vital services covering;
- Commissioning Team - we commission and work with a number of providers, to ensure that people with care needs have access to a range of good quality support to enable them to live independent and fulfilling lives
- Social Work Services - we work with individuals who have care and support needs, and with their carers be they older or younger adults
- Occupational Therapy and Equipment Services - we aim to enhance people’s ability to live safely and independently in their home
- Internally Provided Services - we provide direct support to people enabling those in most need to live independent and fulfilled lives
- Business Systems and Continuous Improvement - we provide a range of services including Financial Assessments, provider payment processing and Business Systems administration. The Business Systems team provide support to Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Services.

What is the job role?
As a Senior Support Assistant, you will be working directly with our tenants as you will be part of the rota, you will provide line management support to your team holding regular supervision sessions with them. Your good rota management skills will ensure that the tenancy is adequately staff at all times, complete support plans, positive handling plans, audits, and Health & Safety checks at the properties. This is a permanent contract, upon completion of a successful probation/induction period. This is a 37hr week post. Service cover is required 24/7, shift work will be required.

These can be a 7am or 8am start for an early shift. 2pm - 4pm if on a late shift finishing at 10pm or 11pm

If on a sleep-in. You will work a rolling 6-week rolling rota pattern, including bank holidays, weekends and sleeping-in shifts. There is a 14% shift allowance and a separate sleeping-in payment you will receive. You will have a number of identified office days where you can arrange for your supervisions etc to be completed. These are at our office in Dover Street and are 8:30am - 4:30pm.

The Promoting Independent Living Service (PILS) supports citizens with learning disabilities to live independently within their own homes.

We currently have an opening for a 37Hr, permanent, Senior Support Assistant, to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team

You will be the Senior Support Assistant over 2 properties. Both are single tenancy.

Staff work together to develop Tenants life skills enabling them to navigate all the challenges of living independently, with guidance, support, advice and sometimes drawing on their own experiences.

Our work also involves encouraging Tenants to appreciate themselves and their self-worth whilst promoting their rights to access all aspects of the community.

We also offer new opportunities and experiences for Tenants to explore giving them better control on what their future will look like with the ultimate goal of living independently in the community.

We encourage tenants to work towards their own goals. Past new experiences have involved going on their first holiday, organising their own birthday party, and inviting their friends and family, travelling to college on their own, gaining a work/volunteer placement or being in total control of their daily medication.
