The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 55,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

We have ambitious plans to drive change by shaping our culture and investing in our people and we have created a new senior role in our People and Culture team to lead this work. As Head of Learning and Culture, you will lead on initiatives to support colleagues in their professional development, maximise diversity and inclusion and shape our culture to be positive, enabling and impactful. You’ll have the opportunity to build the learning function at the College, making recommendations for how this should be delivered as well as identifying and implementing ways to shape our culture, ensure that we deliver on our commitments to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and review our values and create a behavioural framework to bring them to life. You’ll work closely with the Head of People (also a new role) to continuously review ways of working to ensure that we are operating as effectively as we can.

We’re looking for someone with substantial experience of leading a learning or organisational development function, delivering blended learning programmes, and proven experience of delivering organisational culture change. Along with your technical expertise in learning and culture, you will be able to demonstrate your experience and skill in leading others as well excellent communication and influencing skills, an ability to use data to provide insight and an ability to manage multiple projects whilst delivering business as usual.
