**Your new role**

National Highways is currently recruiting a Senior Advisor for our Road Works and Occupancy Requirements Team on a permanent basis.

This team sits in the Roads Design Group whose role is to maximise network capacity for our customers through setting policy, standards and requirements for the safe and effective operation of our new and existing roads. The diversity of our work means we work with many external and internal customers and stakeholders, to continuously improve how the network is operated.

The role will focus on the development and implementation of technical advice relating to road works guidance, policies, standards, best practice and innovations. This is all with the objective of supporting National Highways Delivery Plan and various Strategies.

National Highways has adopted an informal blended working approach, with flexibility to work between your home and the office at your base location. The base location of this role is flexible across National Highways locations.

**What you’ll be leading on**
- To lead and coordinate activities with the aim of improving safety and customer satisfaction around road works design and operations.
- To own and develop various road works strategies and policies.
- Work with various internal and external stakeholders to understand our customers experience of road works and develop solutions to address their issues.
- Liaise and collaborate with internal stakeholders including Major Projects and Operations Directorates to develop, monitor, evaluate and disseminate best practice regarding road works.
- Implement appropriate project management methodologies to ensure the effective planning and control of project activities, the identification and mitigation of risks and effective management of project performance

**To be successful you’ll need**
- Experience of the successful delivery of projects including the establishment of project governance in line with APMP principles.
- Experience of drafting documents such as strategies, policies or work instructions.
