Estates Maintenance Painter

AGH Solutions is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and provides Estates, Facilities and procurement services for the Trust. We are looking for an Estates Maintenance Painter & Decorator to join our team.

We are looking for a highly motivated and professional individual capable of working well within our current Estates team who can undertake pre-planned and reactive maintenance tasks and provide assistance where required on new works schemes.

We are seeking an individual with the experience and qualifications stated in the essential criteria within the person specification.

To maintain and repair the fabric/decoration within the hospital and associated health centres and clinics.

The post holder shall have served a recognised apprenticeship in Painting and Decoration scheme and hold a formal qualification in Painting and Decorating to City & Guilds advanced levelNVQ 3. Previous appropriate working experience within a maintenance environment of at least five years will be required.

The post holder will be required to undertake unsupervised routine and complex maintenance and repair work that requires the judgement and skills of a fully qualified craftsman as this relates to his/her competence training and/or experience.

- The preparation and repair of all manner and description of surfaces in preparation for final decoration
- Application of surface stabilisation preparation materials
- Application of specialist primers
- Application of preparatory lining materials
- Application of standard and specialist paint undercoating’s and finishes
- Wall washing to specialist areas such as kitchen/catering areas, treatment rooms and operating theatres.
- Installation of standard and specialist wall coverings. Application of anti-damp/water proof coatings

Key Tasks
1. To carry out the duties and work with the use of relevant tools (power or hand) and the use of sophisticated diagnostic and test equipment in order to evaluate system/equipment performance and to record relevant data.
2. Demonstrate a good knowledge of statutory legislation, health and safety legislation and workshop safety practices as this relates to the specific duties of the post and to the safety of other staff and members of the public.
3. To carry out installation work relating to the built environment such as partition walling, dry lining, wall claddings, drainage services, passive fire protection measures, suspended ceilings involved in general maintenance as well as upgrading and adaptation works.
4. To liaise with Contractors, Service Engineers and Suppliers to identify parts and materials for order requisitions required for the effective maintenance of building components and complex building details where necessary.
5. Participate in the preparation of formal or informal Risk Assessments and Method Statements in support of Permits to Works or in relation to works of a complex or higher than average risk category.
6. To carry out work in confined spaces (drainage, tanks, subways, roof voids etc.) and to ensure appropriate use of all required protective equipment.
7. Operate within the constraints of formal Permit to Work Systems where the criticality of the plant/system or the safety aspects of the proposed work is such that written operating procedures/control methods need to be established and agreed prior to the commencement of work.
8. Carry out repair and maintenance work using specialised materials for the repair of windows, fire stopping, internal flooring etc. and for the prior to paint repair of internal/external decoration.
