This is a significant and exciting role in the Freedom to Speak Up team. You will have the opportunity to increase your understanding of the ambulance service, the people we support and the staff we employ.

No two days are the same and we are seeking someone who is self motivated, experienced in supporting people from a range of backgrounds and experienced in manipulating and presenting complex data.

You will need to have experience of working with senior managers, patient facing staff and corporate support services. Applicants must have the ability to communicate effectively, and be able to provide professional and constructive challenge across all levels of the organisation to drive cultural change.

The Freedom to Speak Up Deputy Guardian and the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian will be at the forefront of the organisation’s Freedom to Speak Up campaign and will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of a positive speaking up culture across the organisation.

The Freedom to Speak Up Deputy Guardian is an integral role providing support to the Guardian and staff across all levels of the organisation.

We are seeking a graduate with knowledge and experience of Freedom to Speak Up. Applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding, passion and dedication to the principles of Freedom to Speak up and a strong understanding of the NHS.

The ability to handle emotive situations effectively and sensitively and in the strictest confidence are essential skills needed for the role, along with extensive experience of supporting people from a range of backgrounds and levels.

The role requires experience of previously handling and supporting staff to raise concerns and you must be committed to the speak up and speak out agenda.

A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of equality diversity and inclusion through previous roles will be vital.

East of England Ambulance Service covers six counties - the equivalent of 7,500 square miles - and a population of more than six million people.

You will work within a team that holds the responsibility of supporting staff, students or volunteers across the trust to speak up about patient or staff safety.

This is a busy team that works across the organisation and as we are a responsive service, we often work flexibly to be available to staff outside of office hours due to the nature of the shift working patterns. There is also considerable travel to stations and other work bases to support staff engagement. Hybrid and flexible working will be discussed at interview.

**The main responsibilities of the job include**:

- Extensive administrative support to the team.
- Maintaining and updating concerns data and records.
- Using intelligence from relational data bases to produce meaningful reports.
- Engaging with staff in groups and individually across all stations and bases.
- Managing the recruitment, training and support of our volunteers with support from the Guardian
- Supporting our Freedom to Speak Up Guardian to facilitate and respond to issues raised by staff members.
- Contributing to the identification of organisational risk and identifying opportunities to learn lessons and drive improvement through the analysis of data from cases.
