**Position Context**:

- To manage maintenance activities at Billingham and ensure that they are executed safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety management systems and best working practices, in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and business objectives.

**Main tasks**:

- Support the Maintenance Manager to ensure Billingham facilities are maintained in compliance with company processes and EH&S, design and maintenance standards
- Supervise the Billingham maintenance team, support staff and contractors and all day-to-day maintenance activities on site
- Liaise with the E&I Supervisor, Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor at Middlesbrough to ensure resource is allocated appropriately between sites to satisfy priorities and demand
- Assist with the development and implementation of site-wide maintenance programmes & procedures
- Identify opportunities for improvement within the maintenance operation
- Plan and manage maintenance turnarounds
- Performance manage the maintenance mechanical technicians based at Billingham, identifying training & development needs
- Assist Stores Supervisor with establishment & control of Maintenance stores
- Assist Maintenance Manager with establishment & control of the maintenance budget
- Generate, maintain & process maintenance purchase orders in a timely manner
- Contribute to regular review of service providers & suppliers for safety, value and quality
- Ensure appropriate maintenance records are kept up to date to facilitate data analysis for reliability improvements
- Ensure legislative compliance with LOLER, DSEAR & PUWER
- Assist Maintenance Manager & Maintenance Coordinator to manage annual service agreements, resolving renewal issues & identifying opportunities for improvement
- Attend monthly EH&S meetings and ensure progress is made on assigned actions
- Provide technical support as required to breakdowns / tasks
- Provide technical support to incident investigations and hazard reviews
- Review and monitor compliance with safe work systems and maintenance procedures
- Ensure the Maintenance function at Billingham is adequately resourced with technicians at all times

**Required skills**:

- Requires good organisational, leadership & management skills
- Good communication skills
- Extensive knowledge & understanding of engineering & maintenance principles and practices
- Fully conversant with Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry, including COSHH, LOLER, PUWER & DSEAR
- Good understanding of strategic maintenance planning and turnaround activities
- Project Management skills are an asset
