Maintenance Supervisor

Purpose of the role
To organise, allocate and supervise technicians to deliver the scheduled maintenance tasks according to the task work specification packs and to respond to ‘P1’ equipment breakdowns and plant upsets so that plant on-line time and availability is achieve, defects are resolved and planned maintenance routines are completed on-time, safely and to budget constraints. To demonstrate strong ownership and accountability of self and team, towards an assigned production area.
**Responsibilities**:
EHSQ
1. Ensure all maintenance tasks are executed in accordance with company and statutory, environmental, health and safety standards to ensure provision of a safe working environment including the Company’s obligations under COMAH legislation.
- People
1. To select, train, develop and appraise Technicians so as to achieve high level of competence to minimise recourse to external resources and give the highest confidence of safe and reliable operation of equipment within area of responsibility in conjunction with Technical Authorities and Maintenance ‘Lead’ roles.
2. Undertake 1st line personnel management of Technicians (e.g. time and attendance, regular 1-1’s, productivity (individual and team).
Maintenance Execution
1. To ensure that maintenance tasks are delivered safely and to schedule and budget constraints according to the work packs, company standards and good practice.
2. To ensure the timely diagnosis and rectification of equipment defects and faults to maintain plant availability and throughput.
3. To utilise the computerised maintenance management system to record work completion in accordance with business maintenance policy.
4. To prepare, collate, review and file reports of work done, equipment technical drawings, data and settings, spares descriptions and hierarchy in electronic and paper filing systems so that historical data is retained, recommendations for the future are made and evidence of work done is available for audit.
5. To feedback to planners improvements in work task preparation (spares, tools, requirements etc.) and execution (methods, time estimates etc.) as a means to continuously improve job packs.
6.Identify opportunistic/self plan defects which don’t require input from the planning team. Effectively allowing work to go straight to execution as backfill.
Turnarounds and Events
1. To ensure that turnaround maintenance tasks are delivered on-time, safely and to budget constraints according to the work packs, company standards and good practice.
Essential Requirements
Experience
The job holder will have gained a detailed knowledge of relevant hazards, technology, operations and company and site specific policies and procedures, having gained significant experience in chemical plant maintenance in a relevant discipline as a Maintenance Technician. They may have undertaken further formal education in a relevant engineering discipline and will have complemented their knowledge with relevant industry courses.
Skills and competencies
- Knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements in a COMAH top tier site and a detailed understanding of how CF complies with these through site procedures, rules and expectations.
- Demonstrable supervisory experience and will attend company first line management training.
- Thorough understanding of computerised maintenance management systems.
- Proficient user of MS office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) and must have well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Qualifications
Will hold either a recognised apprenticeship or HNC or higher level of relevant qualification in Maintenance / Engineering and have significant demonstrable experience in the safe maintenance of plant and equipment.
