**Your new role**:
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Focus on future maintenance work: daily; weekly; monthly; quarterly; and annually in order to develop and continually refine the maintenance plan for the AT300 fleets.
- Assess the operational situation and dispatch requirements in order to provide input to the maintenance plan.
- Identify and prioritise tasks in accordance with contractual, performance, technical and safety requirements.
- Create and identify maintenance windows and determine the number of work hours available in order to produce work orders.
- Liaise with Engineering and Supply Chain departments to identify, allocate and leverage resources to enable the maintenance plan.
- Actively monitor the backlog of defects in order to reduce the amount of reactive maintenance and improve reliability.
- Identify, monitor and resolve any material issues which affect the overall maintenance plan.
- Plan the implementation of fleet modifications.
- Liaise with Engineering staff and promulgate Engineering Change where required.
- Initiate and plan fleet checks.
- Liaise with the Contract Performance Technicians in the Railway Operating Centre (ROC) to initiate and plan technical investigations, where required, for delays have been attributed to the AT300 fleet.
- Liaise with contractors and external repair agencies in order to inform the maintenance plan.
- Manage costs through the effective and efficient alignment of resources.
- Actively monitor repeat defects in order to reduce the amount of reactive maintenance and improve reliability.
- Comply with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to drive improvement.
- Be reactive to incidents, disruptions and emergencies on the operational railway and amend the maintenance plan accordingly.
- Liaise with Production Schedulers and Shift Support Engineers at Train Maintenance Centres to agree the maintenance plan to be executed.
- Liaise with Operations Support and Engineering staff in order to incorporate overhauls and technical investigations into the maintenance plan.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders and maintain a customer focus.
- Participate in daily conference calls and manage shift handovers.
- Prepare reports and give verbal briefs as required.
- Promote, support and comply with all health and safety practices in the workplace.
- Undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with Hitachi’s new business demands as required.
- Any other duties as directed by the Production Planning Manager.
**About you**:
**Essential**
- Previous experience of planning maintenance and production.
- Previous experience in product improvement and reliability engineering on UK rolling stock.
- Sound knowledge of railway operations and compliance to railway rules and regulations.
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think quickly.
- Experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) - SAP, Maximo or Equinox.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum Engineering HNC or equivalent qualification.
- Vocational engineering qualifications and experience.
**Behavioura**l
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Capable of working in stressful environments for long periods of time.
**Desirable**
- Intermediate IT skills - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Lean Six Sigma experience.
