Financial Controller

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join our team in Bolton.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manage purchase and sales ledgers to ensure procedures are adhered and manage any sales ledger and/or purchase ledger queries requiring escalation
- Ensure payment of creditors within payment terms
- Manage customer invoicing to ensure it is both timely and accurate
- Ensure third party costs are accurately recharged
- Review of all set up forms for new customers and suppliers and maintain relations with suppliers, customers and third-party companies
- Manage the maintenance of all cash books both in excel and finance software and finalise the reconciliation of all bank accounts
- Prepare and submit VAT returns on a relevant quarterly or monthly basis
- Manage timely payments of VAT and PAYE to HMRC
- Manage cash receipts from customers and ensure cash account is properly maintained
- Reconciliation of petty cash on a monthly basis
- Oversee preparation of all miscellaneous cheques and direct banking payments
- Manage all aspects of recycling / customer reporting as required
- Produce all month/quarter/year end journals, including depreciation, accruals, prepayments
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and miscellaneous reports for management as required and all year-end statutory accounts
- Respond to and solve system issues relating to finance software and IWS software
- Resolution of queries from waste transfer stations in relation to IWS and customer issues
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, monthly cash reporting, quarterly reforecasting, and quarterly board pack
- People management responsibilities - manage team members, delivery of performance appraisals and ensure development and training needs of the department are identified and met

**Additional Information** Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours per week.

Essential Skills
- Experience in a similar financial role essential, qualified to AAT level or above
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative with strong problem-solving skills
- Organised, with the ability to prioritise workload
- Reliable and trustworthy with the ability to maintain confidentiality/discretion at all times
- Approachable and a good communicator
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Able to provide support for a team, with exceptional People Management skills
- Flexible and able to adapt to various and changing situations
