Milestone Infrastructure Ltd is currently looking to recruit a Graduate Environmental Advisor to work on our highways maintenance contracts across Somerset and North Somerset.

Milestone Infrastructure look after 24,000 miles of roads, 280,000 lighting assets and 20,000 miles of footways, always with a view to ensuring that all works are carried out as sustainably as possible and with mínimal impact to local communities. Milestone are proud members of the 5% club and ensure we dedicate at least 5% of our workforce to earn and learn roles including graduate programmes. We are now looking to recruit 1 Graduate Environmental Advisor within our Highways team in Somerset and North Somerset. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Graduate Programme in Milestone Infrastructure, with opportunities to progress within a highly respected company. Milestone Infrastructure sits within M Group Services Transport Division, positioned to support transport clients across the UK, supporting the safe movement of people via rail, aviation and highways.

You will join the Milestone Graduate Development Programme, which includes team building, career skills and community project activities. This also includes the opportunity to shadow our senior leadership team, to give you a valuable insight into the wider work that Milestone undertakes and the opportunity to contribute ideas in a fast moving and innovative business. Within our office, you’ll be part of Milestone’s largest early careers community, getting involved with our active graduate and trainee forum to provide mutual support and knowledge sharing. We’ll encourage you to get involved in other rewarding initiatives such as STEM/careers activities with local schools, fundraising & volunteering events, or participating in our working groups to research new innovations to help us reduce carbon and improve biodiversity.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Environment Team at Milestone Infrastructure, with opportunities to develop yourself and progress within a dynamic and innovative organisation. As a Graduate Environmental Advisor, you will provide support for a range of environmental risks and opportunities for design, operational and site teams. You will support additional sustainability initiatives and projects, working alongside a broad range of teams.

**As the Graduate Environmental Advisor your duties & responsibilities will be**:

- Measure, manage and promote the reduction of carbon associated with work activities whilst reporting the data to Milestone and the Client.
- Providing environmental design support.
- Develop and support environmental initiatives and improvements.
- Implementing the requirements of Milestone Infrastructures Management System 'MIMS' at a project level to meet the requirements of ISO4001.
- Continually review environmental compliance through audits and inspections.
- Develop an understanding of our construction activities by visiting live sites and providing environmental support.
- Support on environmental incident investigations and advise on corrective actions.
- Assist the development and delivery of environmental and sustainability training for all contract staff, including the delivery of Toolbox Talks and briefings.
- Liaise with a wide range of teams across the contracts to deliver on environmental targets and outcomes.
- Work pro-actively to engage and influence key stakeholders (operations teams, clients, regulators etc.)
- Represent and promote the Environmental Team in internal and external meetings, workshops and management reviews and forums.

***Skills & Knowledge Requirements**
- Knowledge of and a passion for the environmental field.
- Degree level in appropriate Environment discipline.
- Hold graduate level professional membership (desirable).
- Full UK driver's license and flexibility to travel.
- Literate in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Good interpersonal skills.

- Collaboration with the wider Environment Team to deliver the Milestone Infrastructure Environment & Sustainability Strategy.
