Ofqual has a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Officer to join the Finance and Commercial team. The Commercial Officer will be part of a professional and collaborative team that leads on the delivery of high-quality commercial sourcing and contract management.

**Job description**:
This is a busy role within a small team which is positioned at the heart of decision making within the organisation. The role provides an opportunity to engage with stakeholders right across Ofqual and to play an important part in maximising the long-term effectiveness and impact of what we do.

You should already be working in a commercial environment, building on a skillset involving procurement, stakeholder management, contract negotiation and supplier management.

You should be a self-starter, who is confident with decision making, an effective communicator and is able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

You will be confident with making decisions and have the self-drive and determination to deliver goods and services for our end users.

You must have the ability to manage competing priorities, assess information rapidly, seek clarity or additional information where necessary and articulate needs or processes in a way that is understood by the stakeholder audience, bearing in mind that often such audiences have very limited or no procurement and/or requirement setting experience.

**_ Duties and responsibilities to include, but is not limited to:_**
- Work closely with people in Ofqual to provide professional, solution focused advice and support throughout the procurement lifecycle ensuring that this is in line with Ofqual’s processes.
- Lead on the procurement of contracts which will include using the most optimum route to market, drafting tender documents, co-ordinating/carrying out the evaluation of tenders, producing procurement award reports and supporting documents, contract award and supporting the mobilisation of contracts in a timely manner.
- Maintain the procurement pipeline through accurate record keeping of the contracts register and contract folders ensuring that transparency requirements are met.
- Act as a role model, demonstrating effective communication and appropriate professional behaviour while ensuring compliance with standards and policies.
- Process orders in a timely manner via Ofqual’s ERP system and ensuring any stakeholder queries are dealt with in an accurate and timely manner.
- Undertake professional training gaining accreditation through CIPS as well as ongoing training associated with the role (e.g., new public procurement legislation).
