Plant Operator

Do you like working outdoors? Looking for a role that offers development opportunities? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled, self-motivated individual in our Operations department as a Plant Operator in Taunton/West Huntspill Water Recycling Centres.

**The role**

The role of a Plant Operator involves operating and maintaining an advanced sewage and sludge treatment plant to meet quality standards.

Responsibilities will include:

- Gaining an in-depth practical understanding of a bio digestion plant to maintain plant operation
- Carrying out routine maintenance activities and repairs on both the digestion plant and water recycling centre
- Operating sludge processing equipment to optimise throughput ensuring compliance
- Ensuring the site is kept tidy, removing, or reducing hazards where possible
- Taking daily samples from the process, analysing trends, and reacting to site alarms
- Ensuring health, safety, and welfare of colleagues, the public and self is critical

You will play a big part in the team by ensuring compliance with company policy, processes, and procedures.

**What are the requirements?**

We are looking for someone who is used to working unsupervised in an industrial or process plant.
- Be team player with the desire to seek continual improvement in on site processes
- Have an awareness and understanding of good health and safety practices and to use their own knowledge and experience to contribute to improving working practices.
- Understand and follow safe systems of work, including Permits to Work
- The ability to improve treatment processes and use problem solving skills to identify areas of focus
- Use of effective verbal and written communication skills
- Sewage treatment process knowledge would be desirable, particularly relating to activated sludge, digestion and centrifuges, however full training will be given.
- Electrical or mechanical awareness would be desirable
- Flexibility with working hours that will include working weekends, bank holidays, and perform standby duties on a regular basis

A valid full UK manual driving licence is essential for this role.

Full Confined spaces training will be provided, as will other qualifications applicable to the role.
