**Looking to make a difference to children aged 4-14?**
Become a maths & English tutor with Explore Learning and bring education to life for our members throughout this academic year and beyond.
We believe that quality education for children and young people across the UK is essential, and more than ever, children need opportunities to grow and develop in confidence. At Explore Learning, our goal is to nurture 50,000 young fearless learners, and provide a service which not only impacts our students academically, but also develops a love for learning.
Location: Long Room, The Library, 95 High Rd, London NW10 2SF
**What will you experience as a tutor with Explore Learning?**
- You’ll get a warm and fuzzy feeling by building meaningful, lasting relationships with children and their families through your tutoring sessions. Teaching maths & English to groups of up to 6 children aged 4-14, you’ll tailor your approach and support consistent progress.
- You’ll develop your communication, time management and teaching skills by adapting your approach to each student, identifying new ways to inspire and support them as they develop in their learning. You’ll highlight their successes and enable your students to recognise progress.
- You’ll love coming to work each day, surrounded by inspiring colleagues and working in a vibrant centre; you’ll get a buzz out of building confidence in your students, and knowing you support families in maximising their membership through outstanding delivery of our service.
**What does a typical shift look like?**
Our tutoring sessions range from one-to-one to groups of up to six, and you’ll be working with the same children each week, finding out what approach works best for them to support consistent progress. There will be no lesson planning or marking as your resources have been created and designed for you, and our online learning platform uses an algorithm to assess students as they go, allowing you to focus on bringing learning to life for your students.
This role is fast-paced, hands-on and varied, and your training will match. Be ready to roll up your sleeves and embrace every challenge; trust us, it’s worth it when you see the progress you, and your students, make. From your first week in the role, you’ll learn how to lead the learning experience, and you’ll think on your feet to adapt to each student you work with. You’ll also hone your communication skills to deliver quality feedback, confidently guiding your students towards achieving their goals.
**Does this sound like you?**
- Are you confident in maths and English, having achieved or been predicted a grade 5 or above in your GCSEs (or equivalent)? Please note: we accept predicted GCSE grades if you will be receiving your results within the next 3 months.
- Are you passionate about working with children in an educational setting?
- Do you have initiative to think on your feet, and a willingness to learn new skills, taking ownership of your development?
- Are you aged 16 or over, and currently living in the UK? Please note, you will only be able to work online if you are aged 17 or over.
**Logistics**
- Your availability: Our tutors usually work 2-3 consistent shifts per week; you can request as many hours as you'd like as long as it's more than your minimum of 6 contracted weekly hours.
- Where you will be based: Unless you are an online tutor, you will work consistently at one centre where you have your regular weekly hours.
- Your commitment to children’s safeguarding: promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will undertake employment reference checks, and a Disclosure & Barring Service check. Please note, this role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order.
- Your hourly pay rate will depend on your age and location; you’ll start earning between £6.25-£9.65 for centres outside the M25 or £6.75-£10.15 per hour for centres inside. On top of this, you will also receive an additional 12% of your monthly pay as holiday pay and your pay will accrue an additional uplift based on the number of hours you have worked with us. On top of your tutoring shifts, you will be paid for all of your training and induction sessions.
