The role of the Ambulance Care Assistant involves the transportation of non-urgent patients to and from health/social care premises and private residences. This is a responsible role which requires a professional and caring attitude and teamwork.

You would need to be available to attend a training course on a full time basis over a period of 15 workings days (start date to be confirmed). The course may be run from two training centres. You MUST be able to commit to undertaking the training course as outlined above.

To transport non-urgent patients to/from health/social care premises and private residences etc. in a professional caring, timely, dignified and safe environment

EEAST employs over 5,000 staff with a further 1,000+ volunteers who between them cover 7,500 square miles and care for a population of more than 6 million.

Our three control rooms in Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Essex handle more than 1 million 999 calls every year, over 2,500 calls a day.

We manage a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles including double staffed ambulances, rapid response cars, operational commander response vehicles, patient transport and support service vehicles

Daily check of vehicle and equipment. Top-up, replenish and clean as required, reporting/logging deficiencies to Liaison Manager/Supervisor to ensure compliance with operational and legal requirements.

Clean ambulance parking bay and assist with station duties ensuring the premises are left in a safe and secure condition.

As soon as is practical, but no later than 24 hours, report vehicle accidents/incidents to the Liaison Office or EOC, ensuring the requirements of the Road Traffic Act are complied with.

Ensure vehicle and contents are left in a secure condition at all times.

Ensure that at all times whilst operating the vehicle legislative requirements (e.g. use of mobile phones) are complied with.
