This is an exciting time to join the Border Force Corporate Affairs and Secretariat Unit (CASU), working in the corporate centre of the organisation on a diverse and dynamic portfolio. We contribute to some of the most fundamental issues under consideration across Border Force, Home Office and wider government. CASU sits within the Director General’s Office and reports directly to the Chief of Staff.
This is a high-profile position that is fast paced, challenging and highly rewarding. You will be exposed to diverse range of work carried out across Border Force, as well as engagement with Senior Leaders and other departments in the Home Office.

CASU provides cross-cutting support to Border Force and the Director General on issues such as media queries, Parliamentary Question's, Parliamentary correspondence and Freedom of Information requests, corporate issues/ events, official visits and governance arrangements.

**Person specification**:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the team. You can expect to carry out a range of tasks, including line management, within the team’s portfolio. These tasks will include, but not be limited to
- Leading on one of the teams 3 portfolio’s.
- Organising and facilitating official visits and corporate events for the organisation.
- Coordinating agendas, papers and meetings for the organisation’s highest decision-making boards and forums.
- Delivering on the Governments targets for correspondence and FOIs on behalf of the Director General and other senior officials and ministers.
- Corporate engagement, including Private Offices and senior leaders.
- Building and maintaining relationships with other offices (Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, other senior officials) and other key partners in Border Force, the Home Office and other Government departments.
- Ensuring Border Force meets its Parliamentary responsibilities including but not limited to PQs and Select Committee briefings.

This is a non-uniformed role but there may be occasions uniform is required when accompanying the Director General or for other official events.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to provide the relevant information accurately and effectively communicating the outcome.
- Excellent partner and team management skills, liaising confidently with senior partners and able to influence when necessary
- Strong organisational skills with proven ability to consider impact wider than your own area of work, able to manage, prioritise and task workload to meet deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail and not compromising the quality of the work.
