**Overview of a Business Support Officer**
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Business Support Officer to join an expanding team. The role of Business Support Officer has a competitive pay rate of up to £14.21 per hour to £16.57 per hour. Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).

**The Main Purpose of a Business Support Officer**:

- Taking shorthand and audio dictation if appropriate.- Undertaking a range of financial processes including handling cash, petty cash and cheques, raising orders, invoices and journals on SAP or any other financial system i.e. HOST etc, providing statistical/budget information, in accordance with the Council's financial regulations- To assist in gathering monitoring information on Service Level Agreements and KPIs relating to the team, developing and maintaining spreadsheets, as required- To record sickness absence returns, annual leave and process claims forms such as expenses, overtime and weekly timesheets etc. as required- To contribute to service planning and delivery across the team- To actively participate in Directorate, Corporate and inter Directorate meetings as appropriate and agreed in conjunction with the Business Support Service Team Leader and Business Support Hub Manager- To be responsible for organising service specific meetings and events as required, booking venues, catering and equipment, liaising with and inviting relevant service users, external colleagues, agencies and practitioners, preparing agendas, associated paperwork and promotional materials etc- To develop and maintain effective working relationships with- To be the first point of contact on projects and be responsible for providing accurate information when required.- To be responsible for the monitoring and reporting of expenditure on SAP ensuring all transaction including raising purchase orders, paying invoices are processed and recorded appropriately under the appropriate budgets and that committed and actual expenditure is reconciled as appropriate.- Analysing and reporting on performance data in relation to Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators as and when required.- To take responsibility for the reporting of Health & Safety issues affecting the Directorate as appropriate.- To take responsibility for opening and closing premises if appropriate.- Investigate and provide satisfactory solution in response to complex/sensitive client complaints/queries, utilising experience to make a judgement when cases require referral to a more senior manager- To represent the service, as required, on relevant projects and undertake more in-depth research/analysis work on behalf of the Team Leader**About you, the successful will have**:

- Experience of monitoring budgets, carrying out financial processes and providing financial data and reports- Ability to investigate and respond effectively to minor customer complaints, judging appropriately when to escalate an issue to the line manager- Ability to understand key business priorities, strategies and policies in order to give appropriate advice and information to customers- Ability to lift and handle stationery supplies, and to access and move files above head height and at ground level, as required- Proven track record in working in a Business Support Team providing specialist support to practitioners and managers.**About us**
