We currently have an exciting opportunity for a **CPRD Research Data Governance Officer** to join our **Clinical Practice Research Datalink** team in the Safety and Surveillance group.

This is a **full
- time** opportunity, on a **permanent** basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 4 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 8 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Remote working is potentially available for some specific roles. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment.

The new Safety and Surveillance Group brings together into a single integrated structure devices and medicines safety expertise with enforcement capabilities. These functions will be supported by our data and evidence generating capabilities complementing our signal generating capabilities produced via the new Safety Connect System.
Part of the Safety and Surveillance group, The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), jointly sponsored by the Agency and the National Institute for Health Care Research (NIHR), is the UK’s preeminent research service providing access to anonymised NHS data for research. In addition to supporting high quality observational research, CPRD has developed world leading services based on using real world data to support clinical trials and interventional studies.

**Job description**:
The **CPRD Research Data Governance Officer** role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the UK Government’s premier data-driven research service and will be responsible for managing CPRD’s compliance with regulatory, ethics and policy requirements. Responsibilities include providing timely information governance (IG) support for the linking of primary care data with additional data sets, including risk and data protection impact assessments; monitoring ongoing compliance with IG and related information management policies; records management; providing advice, guidance and training for staff and customers.

In addition to working closely with other members of CPRD staff, the role will involve regular liaison with stakeholders like NHS Transformation Directorate, the Health Research Authority (HRA), Confidentiality Advisory Group (CAG), as well as CPRD clients and partners.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Ensure legal, ethical and regulatory approvals and compliance for use of patient data.
- Maintain a robust information governance framework.
- Support delivery of information governance standards and undertaken assurance and audit activity.
- Co-ordinate information governance support for the linkage of health data sets for research.

**Person specification**:
You will have a well-developed understanding of the benefits and sensitivities of using patient records in research and take a positive approach to tackling problems and find ways to identify suitable solutions. You will also facilitate constructive discussions and enjoy getting all parties to reach an agreement.
