Gloucestershire Nightstop provides emergency accommodation and support for young people, who are homeless or risk of homeless and aged between 16-25, across the county of Gloucestershire, on a night-by-night basis, in the homes of trained and vetted volunteers.

**Our mission**: To champion young people, between 16-25 years, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and to provide safe, supportive, and stable accommodation and early intervention to prevent homelessness.

**Job purpose**

The purpose of the Referral and Assessment Officer is to be the main point of contact for referrals to nightstop. The role requires liaising with our volunteers hosts to establish availability, processing new referrals, risk assessing referrals and arranging placements for young people.

The role will require communication with stakeholders across the county.

There is the opportunity to carry a small caseload and be involved in other Nightstop activities, working closely with the advice and support coordinator and daystop officer in supporting young people on their journey to independent living.

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- To provide initial advice and assessments for young people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or in crisis
- To receive, process and accurately record full data on client enquiries and referrals on to the scheme in accordance with client risk management procedures and make recommendation for acceptance on to Nightstop scheme or not
- To liaise with volunteer hosts to monitor accommodation availability and manage placements
- To lead upon arrangements necessary for a safe Nightstop placement including coordination of guest travel to volunteer host homes, the setting up of On-call service for placements and the provision of a placement brief to volunteer hosts
- To maintain the best use of volunteer host resource and placement of incoming referrals
- To liaise with partner agencies and represent Nightstop externally as required at relevant meetings and forums
- To maintain full and accurate client records for all referrals into Nightstop in accordance with confidentiality and data protection policies
- To provide empathetic support for young people using Gloucestershire Nightstop emergency services
