**The Role**:
To provide strategic leadership to the Department for Research and Innovation (DRI). They will act as the recognised authority on matters and issues within the University relating to their section, and they will actively contribute to, and assist with, the strategic development of the department. The post holder will represent their section at committees and meetings and deputise for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation & External Relations as appropriate.

To work in partnership with academics and senior leaders across the institution to promote a strong research environment and REF support across the institution. This will entail designing and delivering programmes that will lead to research income growth and development as well as further improving the quality and rating our research activity in terms of REF and other key research metrics.
