**A rare opportunity We are looking for an outstanding care assistant to join our day shift or night shift team at our incredible care home in Ayr We are also hiring a bank care assistant**
£10.50 - £10.72 per hour depending on experience
33hrs per week.
Reporting To: Supervisor or Deputy / Manager
Job Purpose:
To provide high standards of care to all residents as directed by, and under the supervision of Supervisors and Manager
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Ability to communicate effectively at all times and at all level
- Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group
- Satisfactory disclosure Scotland check
- Must be willing to undertake SVQ level 2
Desired:
- Care of older people experience/ SVQ level 2
Main Responsibilities
Care
1. Assist with the reception and orientation of new residents in a reassuring manner, listing the residents clothing and other property.
2. Attends to the comfort and personal appearance and hygiene of residents at all times including dressing, undressing, toileting, bathing, combing hair, assisting with dentures and hearing aids.
3. Record and charts observations of residents including weight and food and liquid intake/output. Performs simple urine tests. Completes charts and care assistant records as directed
4. Prepares food trays and eating areas, prepares residents for meals. Provides assistance to residents with eating as needed. Clears away trays and crockery.
5. Tidies resident’s rooms and cupboards, keeping clothing and possessions in order.
6. Makes beds and changes bed linen. Disposes of soiled linen in accordance with Infection control procedures.
7. Escorts residents to hospital, dentist, shops or other approved excursions. Assists with social care needs.
8. Assists with domestic duties.
9. Any other reasonable task requested by a supervisor or manager which is within your competence.
10. Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of life, respect the confidentiality of residents and their families at all times and involve families and friends in the residents care and develop their trust.
11. Report any observed change in the condition of a resident, any incidence of diarrhoea or vomiting (staff or resident) or any untoward incident in the Home to the person in charge/ Manager without delay
12. Report and inform the manager or senior on duty if you re unable to attend work as soon as possible, informing them of a likely return date.
13. Resume to duty as soon as possible after a period of sickness absence, in particular resume to days off.
14. Be aware of, and at all times comply with all relevant company policies including fire arrangements, health and safety issues including moving and handling. COSHH regulations maintaining records diligently and accurately as required.
15. Greet all visitors and answer the telephone in a friendly courteous and efficient manner and promote the company ad the unit in particular positively at all times in the local community.
16. Attend; participate in, training sessions and staff meetings.
17. Maintain good working relationships with all colleagues at all times.
