GPG delivers services for over 400,000 civil servants across government. It supports 1.5 million Civil Service and Royal Mail pension scheme members, and provides recruitment services for around 70 percent of the Civil Service.

The Corporate Services team is central to the smooth running of the Government People Group and delivering the organisation's strategic objectives. Composed of the Private Office, Communications, Portfolio Management, and Business Management teams, the Corporate Services team provides direct support to the Executive Team and sets the tone for engagement with our key stakeholders.

**Job description**:
The role of the Portfolio Support Officer is a post within the GPG Portfolio Management and Governance Team. This is an exciting role sitting at the centre of the organisation providing essential support to the running of the portfolio office to ensure the successful delivery of the GPG portfolio.

The role covers a diverse range of activities to support the day to day running of the team and delivery of the portfolio, to enable the smooth coordination of portfolio reporting and project management processes and controls. The role will engage with key stakeholders and programmes across Government People Group to deliver portfolio management information, reports and the coordination of governance meetings. You will also contribute to briefings for senior CO leaders and ministers. It will focus on working across disparate work streams and multiple programmes and projects, in order to understand and analyse priorities and project progress.

The post holder will work within a small team of specialist Portfolio, Programme and Project management experts and work collaboratively with SRO’s, Project Practitioners, Policy and Service leads, HR and Technical Experts.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Create and maintain portfolio data and management information and provide analysis of key portfolio data, including risks, planning and benefits
- Support the collation, drafting and production of Portfolio level reports including risks and benefits
- Implement and maintain appropriate systems to deliver a portfolio delivery map and enable effective planning and dependency tracking
- Provide secretariat support for portfolio meetings, governance boards and project profession community forums including: setting up meetings, commissioning papers, producing agendas and minute taking.
- Tracking and chasing up actions and monitoring delivery progress and action logs.
- Support delivery of professional services with a wider range of stakeholders on areas of a programme/project lifecycle and portfolio management controls, including risk, planning and benefits.
- Help report GPG’s progress to Senior Leaders, using a range of reporting mechanisms.
- Provide support to the Portfolio team which may include working on areas outside your own remit.
