An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse to commence in HMP Littlehey’s Mental Health Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our team in delivering high quality mental health care. We are an energetic and hardworking team working with category C male offenders with complex needs. Ideally, we would like some experience of working in a secure setting or with offenders, but this is not essential.
If you have previous experience working with Mental Illness or a newly qualified Mental Health Nurse who is looking for a challenge to work with both primary and secondary mental health, then this is the role for you. We are based is Perry, Huntingdon which is part of Cambridgeshire, we have free parking and an on-site subsidised canteen.
NHFT provide healthcare wellbeing services within HMP Littlehey
The Mental Health team is part of the integrated Healthcare provision which provides mental health services to the residents at HMP Littlehey. The team consists of mental health nurses, a clinical psychologist, an assistant psychologist, support worker and visiting psychiatrists.
The service provides comprehensive, safe and effective mental health services via a stepped care model over a 5-day week. The post holder will utilise a variety of practical and theoretical knowledge with the team to deliver both individual and group workings with primary and secondary service individuals
This role is for a dynamic qualified individual with effective communication skills who has the ability to complete mental health assessments, person centred robust care plans, CPA and risk assessments. The individual will have the ability to act as an advocate for the residents and be able to keep calm and respond effectively under pressure.
The post holder will have excellent IT & literacy skills, they will have the ability to work as part of a team and as a role model empowering and motivating other team members.
The post holder will be able to demonstrate appropriate professional and personal boundaries, have the ability to use their own initiative and show commitment and dedication through effective time management, along with organisational and decision making skills

Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
