**Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Head of Responsive Repairs to work with one of our Local Authority clients in London.**

**What the job will be doing**
- To take responsibility for developing the Council’s Responsive Repairs Strategy for its Housing Revenue Account assets (c 25,000 homes), developing lifecycle investment plans and programmes to ensure Council homes and estates continue to be maintained andimproved.
- To take operational responsibility for the Council’s responsive maintenance services, to include repairs, void works, adaptations and major works, out of hours and specialist works provided through both in-house and contractor delivery teams as required.
- To take strategic and operational responsibility for the responsive service supply chain management, including the stores provision provided under contract to the Council, fleet management of the service vehicles provided under contract to the Council,and the service in-house workshops.
- To develop a Target Operating Model (TOM) that delivers excellent customer service whilst generating high levels of efficiency and value for money for the Council.
- To demonstrate commercial awareness and acumen, developing and embedding a culture of commercial awareness within the service, as part of delivering service excellence.
- To work with the Senior AD, Repairs and Investment to develop a viable Business Plan for the responsive service, achieving a balanced budget and moving it to surplus within 3 years.
- To work closely with key stakeholders, including the Council’s Customer Service Centre, Residents Groups, Members and Trade Unions to develop and broker delivery of the TOM.
- To deputise for the Senior Assistant Director, Repairs and Investment as required.
- Manages up to 8 directly managed staff with staffing or approx. 280 within the service.
- Responsible for successful delivery of the Council’s corporate objectives and the business objectives of the Repairs and Investment service.
- Work flexibly with the Repairs and Investment Senior Management Team and across Housing and Safer Communities, to provide effective leadership and management that will contribute to the continuous improvement of the service and the directorate.
- Actively contribute to corporate initiatives to achieve corporate objectives.
- Lead on ensuring the service delivers against the R&I business objectives, and achieves its Key Performance Indicators, and efficiency and productivity metrics.
- Manage and lead staff to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, including developing and improving staff capacity and capability.
- Manage resources well, developing a clear understanding of income and costs pressures and their drivers.
- Work with the Commercial Manager and Finance Team to ensure regular monitoring with teams on expenditure and spend forecasts, producing timely and accurate reporting and forecasting of financial information, and effective forward planning of resource needs.
- Deliver services through direct and contracted provision that are productive, efficient and value for money, developing key metrics around productivity and efficiency.
