**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Financial Management**:

- Maintain and manage the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reports, including cash flow statements, profit and loss reports, and balance sheets.
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow and working capital.
- **Invoicing & Applications**:

- Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices.
- Manage the end-to-end subcontractor invoicing and payment process, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- **Process & Procedure Development**:

- Introduce, implement, and refine financial processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop commercial practices to align with company growth goals, including contract reviews and compliance.
- Recommend and implement financial systems improvements to streamline the company’s operations.
- **Tax & Compliance**:

- Prepare and submit VAT returns, CIS submissions, and other statutory filings.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with tax and industry regulations, including Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
- **Collaboration & Communication**:

- Work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors, banks, and HMRC when required.
- Provide financial advice and commercial insights to support contract negotiations and company strategy.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or similar role in the construction or contracting industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, VAT, and CIS regulations.
- Experience with financial software (e.g., Xero, Sage) and proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to introduce and improve financial processes and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

**Preferred**:

- Experience in the construction industry
- AAT, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or working towards it) is a plus.
