The shift pattern for the role is as follows;
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday - 3pm to 8pm

**Role Overview**

The Evening Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving evening meals, ensuring all food is nutritious, well-presented, and tailored to the dietary needs of our residents. This role plays a key part in maintaining the home’s high standards for food hygiene, safety, and resident satisfaction.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Prepare and cook the evening meal in line with the menu plan and residents’ dietary requirements.
- Adapt recipes for special diets (e.g., diabetic, low-salt, texture-modified meals).
- Ensure portion control and presentation are consistent and appealing.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, following all food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Check and record fridge/freezer temperatures and food storage requirements.
- Wash up, clean equipment, and leave the kitchen ready for the next shift.
- Work closely with care staff to ensure residents’ preferences and needs are met.
- Report any shortages of stock or faulty equipment to the Home Manager.

**Skills & Experience Required**
- Previous experience as a cook or chef (preferably in a care home, school, or similar setting).
- Knowledge of food hygiene, allergen management, and dietary needs.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner.
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
