Bury, United Kingdom Bury Council Full time

**Connect and Direct**

**Soc**ia**l Care Officer**

**Salary: Grade 9**

**Hours: 37 hours per week Mon Fri 8:45 17:00**

**1 x Permanent**

This is an exciting opportunity for a Social Care Officer (SCO) who wants to have the opportunity to develop themselves professionally and make a positive contribution to the work in Connect and Direct (CAD) which is the ‘front door’ of Adult Care Services.

Based at Textile Hall, the Connect and Direct Service is the initial first point of contact for Adult Care Services. The team deal with customers at the time of need and issues are frequently resolved with good quality advice, information, and signposting within this first conversation. Promoting the safety and wellbeing of Bury residents alongside early intervention, prevention, delaying and reducing need is the focus of the service.

We focus on how people can be supported by the strengths they have in themselves, their network of support from family, friends and their local communities. Where care and support is required, we work to ensure that this reflects the individual’s assessed needs and strengths, while promoting their independence, choice and control.

The post holder will be part of a small initial triage team within Connect and Direct. You will work closely with CAD Enquiry Referral Officers, colleagues across the department and external partners to manage referrals at the front door requiring a prompt social care response.

You will need to have knowledge, skills and experience working within social care. You will need to be a confident communicator, quick to learn and have a real can-do approach.

You will also need to have IT skills and, following appropriate training, be able to record/input information and negotiate around the Councils Electronic Recording system in line with current policies and procedures.

We will support your professional development with formal and informal supervision and provide opportunities to learn and develop skills on the job working closely with the wider operational team.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
