Midland Mencap is seeking to recruit caring and flexible Support workers to provide support with housing, tenancy & life skills tasks and some Personal Care to adults with learning disabilities.
Based across Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Kingstanding you will assist with tasks such as budgeting, correspondence, attending appointments & encouraging individuals to access all community resources and amenities. You will work with service users to enhance their life skills to enable them to live safely & independently, in both their own home and the wider community
Social duties to include shopping, talking with Citizens, helping to maintain contact with family, friends, and the local community, escort duties which may include:

- Escorting Citizens, e.g. to the shops/bank.
- Escorting Citizen on public transport.
- Escorting Citizen to e.g. GP practices for appointments, or chiropody treatment etc.

Though previous experience is not essential you must be able to demonstrate an awareness of equal opportunities, particularly in meeting the social, cultural and religious needs of the client group.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, work well as part of a team and understand the issues and requirements of people with a Learning Disability. Additionally, you will deliver support using a person centred approach, following individual support plans and risk assessments, whilst also meeting agreed outcomes.
