**Job Purpose**

Our ER Specialist is responsible for fostering positive relationships between our employees and the overall Storal Nurseries group. You will design and deliver expert and solutions-focussed advice linked to our people policies and ER vision whilst supporting our people, strategic objectives, and legislative obligations.

**Main Responsibilities**

Specifically, your responsibilities will include (though will not be limited to):

- Ensuring a culture of excellence, high standards and continuous improvement within the overall People function, embodying our behaviours and values
- Leading on the response to employee complaints, managing grievance procedures, and advising colleagues and managers on best-practice
- Investigating and resolving complex or critical employee relations issues in a timely and effective manner
- Continuous improvement - collating and analysing employee feedback on a regular basis, and revising people policies, procedures, letters and templates to generate positive outcomes in the future
- Ensuring the HRIS is utilised properly by all team members
- Coaching nursery management teams on how to properly execute people policies
- Utilising a resource pool of People Coordinators and Talent Coordinators to facilitate the delivery and administrative elements of ER handling
- Preparing and maintaining a robust set of ER metrics - covering sickness, turnover, dismissals, suspensions and grievances - maintaining data integrity, and proactively sharing updates with internal stakeholders
- Establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships with management and key stakeholders internally (e.g. nursery teams and regional teams)
- Working closely with the L&D Department to design and deliver training for colleagues on various ER processes - including performance management, absence management, disciplinary and grievance handling
- Supporting the People Projects Lead, Talent Manager and Head of People as required

**What we are looking for**

To be successful in the role of Employee Relations Specialist, you’ll have to demonstrate:
Essential
- 5+ years in a generalist HR or specialist ER role, ideally in a fast-moving, multi-site business
- Strong demonstrable knowledge and experience in employee relations
- Excellent, up-to-date knowledge of HR policies & procedures
- Strong, relevant and up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law
- The ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines at once
- An approachable nature and with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage expectations, deadlines and desired outcomes
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills

Desirable
- Experience of automation/digital transformation
