**Definition of the Role**:
To support the delivery of high quality, youth led, effective Youth work activities (with a focus on mental health and wellbeing) reaching out to young people aged between 11 and 18 (with some up to 25) at YMCA St Helens Youth Hub and other locations around St Helens.

Promoting their personal, educational and social development, and engaging them in activities aimed at re-dressing inequalities, improving their life chances, and empowering them to take action on issues affecting their lives, including mental and physical health, education, unemployment and the environment, by developing skills and attitudes.
:

- Planning & delivering a programme of youth led youth work activities (for 11-18-year-olds and some 19-25) at evenings and weekends achieving agreed outcomes, ensuring monitoring and evaluation is completed.
- Undertake youth work, observing all required welfare and safety procedures.
- Deliver/support the delivery of on-site and off-site engagement and developmental activities (arts, music, community, environmental, as well as activities supporting engagement in training and employment)
- Work with the Youth work manager and wider youth team to support individual young people based on their needs.
- **Project Delivery**_
- Ensure compliance with appropriate organisational/project policies and procedures.
- Maintain overview and link with other youth activities taking place at YMCA St Helens, in St Helens and surrounding areas.
- Work with the Youth Work Manager and youth work team members to develop a diary of youth activities

**Skills and Attributes**:
**Essential**
- Ability to work Mondays-Saturdays within the hours of 1:30-9pm (maximum of 4 evenings per week expected).
- Experience and/or qualifications in youth work (Minimum of Level 2 or 3 certificate or Diploma in Youth Work Practice) and/or youth-based activities.
- Good understanding of youth work and the needs of young people.
- Practical understanding of safeguarding and health and safety within a youth work setting
- Experience of successfully delivering youth work projects
- Skill/knowledge/experience in one of the following areas
- Get Active (Dance/Drama/Sports)
- Get Creative (Art/Digital Media/Craft/Cooking)
- Supporting SEND youth
- Strong young people’s skills
- Strong ability to plan activities and deliver to a high standard.
- Self-motivated with high level of initiative
- Safeguarding young people experience/training

**Desirable**
- Knowledge & experience of working with young people with mental health/SEN/challenging behaviours
- Flexible approach to working, able to adapt to changing landscape
- Capacity to engage with people from various sectors, cultures and traditions
- Experience working with young people with SEND
- Qualified in First Aid
- Current driving licence and access to vehicle

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £24,479.00 per year
