Youth Listening Service Project Worker

**Definition of the Role**:
To provide one to one listening services focussed on low level mental health to young people aged between 11 and 25.To support young people to access other youthwork activities ran as part of our Early Intervention Youth Hub, or other local partner agencies.
**Purpose of the Role**:
To support the listening service Manager to deliver a high quality, effective low-level mental health support service and Early Intervention Youth Hub, to young people aged between 11 and 25, which builds resilience and develops positive strategies to deal with their mental health and reduce the need for further intensive support in their future.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Provide 1 to 1 listening service to young people, observing all required welfare and safety procedures.
2. To work with the Listening service Manager to plan and deliver designated project areas activities.
3. Befriend and support individual young people in the various settings, assess their needs.
4. Contribute to administering youth and community projects and resources as required.
5. Work with Youth Hub team to plan and deliver designated project areas activities.

**Skills and Attributes**:
**Essential**:
- Experience/qualifications in mental health areas of working with children and young people (aged 11-25)
- Previous experience in youth work settings working with children and young people on mental health issues.
- Very strong young people’s skill
- very strong listening skills
- Strong commitment to young people and an understanding of the factors affecting their lives, ability to effectively communicate.
- Ability to work weekends, late afternoons, and evenings.
- Ability to provide reliable support to young people in times of stress and act with integrity.
- Patience, tolerance and flexibility,
- An accepting and non-authoritarian approach.
- Ability to respect, and work within the Christian ethos of the organisation.
**Desirable**:
- Flexible approach to working, able to adapt to changing landscape.
- Capacity to engage with people from various sectors, cultures and traditions.
- Qualified in First Aid
- Able to promote the Christian ethos of the organisation.
