Underwriter

You will work in a wider team responsible for the product and propositions and work closely with the customer facing and development teams.

**Responsibilities**:

- You will handle underwriting queries and referrals in line with agreed delegated underwriting authority guidelines,
- You will approach insurers with referrals on scenarios that are outside of our Delegated Authority in terms of pricing, coverage, and policy conditions,
- You will be organised and ensure that you work within the required service level agreements.
- You will report into the Product & Proposition Manager
- You will adhere to all compliance and regulatory procedures,

**Experience**:

- You will have a minimum of 3 years appropriate previous insurance underwriting experience
- You will ideally be qualified Cert CII,
- You will have experience of working within a regulated FCA environment (essential),
- You will be able to understand and implement ‘best practice’ in customer service, compliance systems and processes, and financial management,
- You will have good experience using bespoke systems and MS Office Suite preferably Including Acturis,
- You will have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, coupled with excellent time management,
- You will be able to work under pressure, adapt and be flexible in approach,
- You will have excellent communication skills which includes verbal, written, listening and negotiation, having the ability to communicate at all levels,
- Good technical knowledge of commercial business, including Property, Casualty and Financial Lines classes.
- Good technical knowledge of commercial business, including commercial combined, liability and property classes.
- Understanding of the insurer market & ability to develop effective insurer relationships.
