These vulnerable Children and Teenagers can sometimes be challenging due to their past circumstances so we need people who excel themselves in challenging situations whilst being resilient and determined to make a positive difference to a Young Person’s life. UK Care provide Specialist Support Services for Young Children and Teenagers in a Supported Living Environment. Supporting Local Authority and Children’s Services to establish robust Care Plans to give the best opportunity for a vulnerable Young Person to flourish and make a positive difference to their future. These Vulnerable Young People can be in various situations in their life. We pride ourselves on treating every Young Person we provide support for with complete dignity and respect and strive to understand the challenges they encounter through their eyes. We specialise in providing Short, Mid and Long Term Placements for these Young People and the Local Authorities that are responsible for the Young Persons' Safeguarding needs. This requires providing robust Live In Care Workers, to live with and support the Young Person. Due to the fluid nature of events that these young people face, they can also need emergency support in a crisis situation and we provide emergency placements for them, working closely with Local Authorities and Children's Trusts to ensure they are being safeguarded and supported throughout the challenges they are facing. This also means that we can be required to offer a Support Solution for a Young Person at a moments notice at any time of day or night. We are searching for the right Support Workers to join our team and support the safeguarding of young people by living in a placement with the Young Person to support them and ensure that we are meeting the needs of the Local Authority and actioning their care plans. This work involves safeguarding, managing challenging behaviours and supporting young peoples' needs to help them develop the skills needed to be independent. Due to the nature of the role, someone with flexibility is essential. As an example our Team Members can usually stay 4 days at the placement property, then have 3 days off. A night allowance is paid for work where we have to stay at the property and as we can be working in a location anywhere in the UK depending on the needs of the Young Person and Local Authority, travel is usually provided as a Team however someone with a Driving Licence would be advantageous. For this role we are looking for people who can get to our own Placement Address in Wakefield We usually work on a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio with the Young Person and the vast majority of the time the placements we support are single occupancy, meaning that we will only be supporting one child in the property. Have a high Amount of Flexibility and be able to work away from home for periods of time Be able to demonstrate interpersonal skills Have a genuine interest in working with vulnerable young people Will have a willingness to learn Be able to work overnight and provide live in support The successful Support Worker will: Have proven knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable people with behaviour that challenges. Most importantly we are looking for a Support Worker to demonstrate the right values and understanding of how to support individuals with making informed decisions on their care and treatment and the care and treatment of their baby. You will need to demonstrate: - A genuine desire to help people and make a difference - A proven career history supporting young people with behaviour that challenges. - Have an understanding of the challenges that many of our young people face - Excellent listening and communication skills - Show empathy and compassion when required - Offer flexibility - A non-judgemental approach to providing care and support - A current driving license and your own transport would be ideal but not essential - Be able to work on a "Live In" basis in a placement anywhere in the UK - Flexible approach to hours worked - UK Care and Secure Transport Services is committed to safeguarding the welfare of the people we support.
