**About the role**:
Scope of Indirect Taxes within Reckitt include not only VAT and customs duties, but also emerging green/ESG taxes such as plastic Packaging Tax, EPR & CBAM
This role reports to the Group Tax Director who in turn reports to the SVP Global Head of Tax.
**Key Responsibilites**:
The role will lead on global Indirect Tax matters, managing a small central team of SME experts and work cross-discipline with other senior stakeholders in the wider Reckitt Group who are involved in activities that have an indirect tax impact. You will provide proactive business partnering with local businesses & central functions and manage relationships with Tax and Customs Agencies, external providers and other relevant external bodies.
As Reckitt implements its business simplification, you will play a critical role in delivering change without any unforeseen indirect tax consequences.
You will collaboratively work with peers, stakeholders, colleagues and external service providers to increase the value protection and value creation for the wider Group.
You will have a proven track record of working in a comparable role for another complex multinational organisation. You will have expert knowledge of Indirect Taxes in a multinational organisation and have a transformation and technology mindset
**Responsibilities**:
- To lead a central team of SMEs and support the wider Tax team.
- Define and implement roles and responsibilities within the Group supporting delivery on Indirect Taxes and interactions with the wider stakeholder group including tax team, finance, supply, procurement, regulatory and sustainability teams. Input into the broader tax and finance transformation, clarify roles and responsibilities, build and embed an appropriate Indirect Tax framework.
- Define and pursue strategies which reduce the company’s overall indirect tax risk profile, improve cash flow and ensure a standardised process for compliances with all relevant taxes
- Partner with the business to provide indirect tax advisory expertise and leadership on complex international transactions and supply chains, business activities, M&A transactions, internal restructurings, business expansions, in order to achieve tax savings and working capital improvements alongside reduction in risk.
- Establish a close and trusted network of external advisors and industry contacts.
- Identify indirect tax risk areas and ensure appropriate controls are in place to address these and ensure the effectiveness of these controls is regularly reviewed.
- Define new compliance and reporting processes with a view to increased controls, automation, and operational simplification.
- Manage the global relationship with the co-source provider(s) for indirect tax work, working collaboratively to ensure all filings are submitted in a timely manner, and to improve any data or other issues that impact the indirect tax filings globally.
**Responsibilites**:
- Ensure appropriate Indirect Tax governance framework is in place and operating effectively.
- Monitor legislative developments, assessing the impact on the business, and ensure applicable changes are shared and implemented on a timely and accurate basis.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure effective and timely management of indirect tax matters as part of the Group’s external audit.
- Manage indirect tax audits and disputes, including developing a strategy to manage/mitigate as far as possible, and liaise with tax authorities globally as required.
- Monitor changes in legislation and case law related to indirect taxes, assessing the impact on the business and advising on necessary actions.
