In this role, you will assume responsibility for VAT and indirect tax strategy across multiple jurisdictions and will contribute to broader international tax and cross-border compliance initiatives. You will serve as the primary expert on VAT and indirect tax matters, ensuring that our global operations—including digital services, AI infrastructure, and cross-border transactions—are structured and reported in accordance with relevant regulations. As a key member of a focused and results-oriented team, you will develop scalable tax processes, provide guidance on complex operational issues, and support the company's continued international expansion. This position presents an outstanding opportunity for an VAT specialist who excels in dynamic, technology-driven environments and seeks to play a significant role in shaping the tax strategy of a rapidly growing organisation. What you'll be doing Lead all VAT and indirect tax matters across the UK, EU, and other international markets where Nscale operates. Provide technical guidance on VAT treatment of digital services, AI infrastructure, and cross-border supplies. Manage VAT registrations, returns, and reporting, working closely with local advisors and internal finance teams. Develop and implement robust indirect tax processes and controls to ensure compliance and scalability as the business expands. Partner with Finance, Legal, and Commercial teams to advise on transactional flows, intercompany arrangements, and new market entry from a VAT perspective. Support corporate tax planning and international structuring projects, ensuring VAT implications are understood and managed. Monitor VAT and indirect tax developments globally (e.g., e-invoicing, digital reporting, platform economy rules) and proactively assess business impacts. About you ACA, CTA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification. 8+ years of experience in VAT/indirect tax, ideally with exposure to international operations and digital business models. Deep understanding of UK and EU VAT legislation, with practical experience handling complex cross-border transactions. Strong technical and commercial judgment — able to translate VAT requirements into clear operational guidance. Broader awareness of international tax principles and willingness to engage on corporate or employment tax topics when needed. Detail-oriented, pragmatic, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Collaborative approach with excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset. About Nscale At Nscale, you'll find a collaborative, supportive, and innovative environment where your contributions spark real impact. We're building something extraordinary, and we want you at the core. Highly competitive package (base + equity) with reviews every 12 months.
