Infrastructure Operations Director
City, London / Remote - Hybrid
£100,000 per annum + benefits + 20% bonus
The Infrastructure Operations Director owns and governs the Company Technology Infrastructure estate. They will be responsible for the strategic direction of the Company infrastructure estate to meet short-term and long-term business needs, as well as primaryresponsibility for business-as-usual IT infrastructure operations and oversight of IT infrastructure project initiatives.
**Main Duties**
- Reporting to the Head of Global Infrastructure & Service Operations to assist in forming a service operations and infrastructure management team.
- Working with Company Technology Teams to develop infrastructure transformation plans and drive infrastructure Roadmap Adoption
- Provide oversight and direction to ensure the target end-state is the most cost efficient to address their technical requirements
- Work with Infrastructure teams / Operations to plan and implement any required changes
- Oversight & management of budget and billing in relation to infrastructure suppliers
- Technical Management responsibility for Server and Network Infrastructure, End User Device build and management
- Responsible for the E2E infrastructure lifecycle from specification and provisioning through to retirement / replacement, including for projects.
- Develops, introduces and assures globally consistentstandards for infrastructure, including standard machine builds.
- Develops, introduces and assures globally consistent processes for infrastructure availability and infrastructure capacity management to meet service level objectives
- Manages / controls definitive build configurations / infrastructure source code. Ensures backup and recovery of configuration assets.
- Ensures the development, introduction and management operational support documentation including run books, technical recovery action plans, maintenance, and recovery processes etc.
- Develops and manages Infrastructure knowledge documentation repository
- Ensures provision of 2nd and 3rd line incident response for all infrastructure issues(via suppliers where appropriate)
- Works with Service Desk to identify and transition 1st line resolution opportunities
- Works closely with other Company teams and CIT to provide joined up services, developing defined OLAs as appropriate
- Responsible for infrastructure related audit and risk deliverables.
- Develops and manages processes to efficiently and effectively source, install, maintain and retire server hardware
- Ensures appropriate level of support for networking software configuration 'behind' the router for each Company site. (Pac Life (with partner Sprint) support MPLS / WAN traffic routing up to the router for each Company site). Company infrastructure supportworks in partnership with to enable end to end network traffic management.
- Ensures appropriate level of support for Company VPN software and hardware
- Ensures appropriate level of support for local area network physical devices including sourcing, install, maintenance and retirement.
- Ensures appropriate level of support for production and non-production services
- Manages the relationships with data centre providers
- Manages technology software and hardware asset inventories including license lifecycle
- Manages the integration of 3rd party services to deliver seamless service provision and intervenes (within contractual constraints) where service gaps are discovered
- Manages Infrastructure project Management
- Manages Infrastructure daily / weekly / monthly operations calendar
- Manages infrastructure design to meet business needs in a globally consistent manner
- Managers innovation, infrastructure roadmap development and Continuous Improvement initiatives
**Qualifications & Expertise**
- Several years' experience as a Senior IT Infrastructure Operations Manager in multi-region / multi-timezone context.
- Broad technical knowledge of infrastructure components like operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, network devices, hypervisors
- Experience with reporting tools and ability to generate reports
- Experience of on-premise and cloud computing infrastructure management
- Team player ready to own and drive projects
- Infrastructure management thought leadership
- Good communicator, able to work with global teams
- A continual improvement mindset and high levels of customer focus.
- Experience of working with internal and external partners to drive service excellence.
- Ability to drive change and process improvement in a maturing environment
- Able to identify risks and challenges and to mitigate appropriately
- Adaptable to change in an evolving environment
- Ability to adopt a hands-on approach as well as lead others
- ITIL qualified
- Technology management background in Financial Services and advantage
- Experience of building out internal infrastructure related capability
- Experience of managing a 3rd party/outsourced infrastructure service
