**What’s the role**
As an eDiscovery Specialist, you will report to the Managing Counsel LIG in Global Litigation. You will collaborate with internal and external legal counsel, as well as professional staff, to coordinate eDiscovery activities for legal matters across the Group. You will interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and should be comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders.
**What you’ll be doing**
As an eDiscovery Specialist, you will support a global team in identifying, preserving, collecting, and disclosing potential evidence in litigation, regulatory, and other legal matters. This role will support cases from a variety of regions globally but will have a heavy focus on cases in the EMEA and Asia-PAC regions.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing an understanding of Shell’s IT architecture including the M365 platform
- Working at the direction of legal counsel to develop and execute strategies for identification and collection from data sources likely to contain materials relevant to specific legal claims and defenses
- Providing guidance to legal counsel on search techniques
- Securely transferring collected data to eDiscovery vendors and outside counsel
- Accurately tracking all search, collection and export efforts for specific matters
- Managing onsite secure storage of preserved data
- Educating internal and external legal counsel on the capabilities of M365 eDiscovery Center and advising teams on effective and efficient data collection strategies
- Participating in the establishment and management of eDiscovery best-practices from a global perspective
**What you bring**
A self-starter with the ability to multi-task and set priorities with mínimal oversight. You should have the ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, function in a team environment, and be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
Key Skills and Requirements:
- Advanced understanding of data collection practices including through M365 eDiscovery Centers
- Basic Powershell skills
- Strong skills in Boolean search and natural language search - experience with advanced data analytics a plus
- Strong Excel skills
- Basic understanding of legal preservation and discovery/disclosure obligations in litigation
- Interest in improving processes and workflows, including through standardization and automation
Hard Skills:
- Strong organisational and teaching skills
- Collaborative - a good team player
- Elite problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Proven ability to work to deadlines and prioritize multiple projects
- Willingness to learn new programs and skills as needed for projects.
- Comfortable with direct interface with legal counsel and senior stakeholders
- Understanding the importance of information management especially relating to litigation matters
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good standard of written and spoken English
