Support Worker
Required to work with a young child who has a learning disability and quadriplegic cerebral palsy. The Client lives with her mum in an adapted property in the Canton area

We are keen to recruit an enthusiastic support worker who is patient and willing to spend quality time engaging her in lots of different activities and implementing therapies as prescribed by the Multi-disciplinary Team that consists of an occupational therapist, speech and language therapist, physiotherapist, and paediatric neuropsychologist.

The Client enjoys socialising, playing in her therapy playroom, accessing her iPad and walks around the local area. The client has a friendly and cooperative personality but can become agitated on occasions when she is trying to communication with others. She uses Makaton, facial expression, and behaviours to communicate her needs

Applicants will be expected to have some experience of caring for people with physical and learning disabilities.

An understanding of special educational needs and cerebral palsy is desirable for this post.

full driving licence and own car are essential.

You must be registered with OR working towards registration with Social Care Wales

A recognised Health and Social Care qualification (Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent) is desirable

Competent IT skills are desirable.

16 hours per week to include early evenings during the week
Example during school term:
16.00 to 19:30 3 x weekdays
10:00 to 15:30 Saturday

£14.00 per hour weekdays
£16.00 per hour weekends
£0.45 per mile when using own car to transport client

This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS.
You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
