We are now looking for a Support Worker to provide inspirational support to a young child in the Canton area of Cardiff, working 16 hours per week.

**The Role**
As a Support Worker, you’ll provide a high-quality care service to our client, a young child with a learning disability and quadriplegic cerebral palsy.
You will spend quality time with the client, who enjoys socialising, playing in her therapy playroom, accessing her iPad and taking walks around the local area. She is friendly and co-operative but can become agitated when trying to communicate with others.
She uses Makaton, facial expression, and behaviours to communicate her needs. You will support her independence and participation in community activities and ensure a superb quality of life.
Additionally, you will:

- Ensure the client’s safety and physical well-being at all times
- Treat the client with respect and dignity, in a non-judgemental, respectful and caring way
- Liaise with, and support, the family as required
- Follow the service user plan as documented for the client
**About You**
To be considered as a Support Worker, you’ll need:

- At a minimum, some experience of caring for people with physical or learning disabilities
- An understanding of the needs of a client with physical and cognitive difficulties
- Knowledge of cerebral palsy
- A patient, warm, caring, reliable and trustworthy approach and attitude
- A team player mentality
- A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Other organisations may call this role Support Worker, Care Worker, Healthcare Worker, Healthcare Co-ordinator, Care Co-ordinator, Social Care Worker, Care Assistant or Healthcare Assistant.
This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
