Vale of Glamorgan, United Kingdom Smooth Starts Plus Full time

Smooth Starts Plus are looking to hire a dedicated and passionate individual to support children and young people (4-16yrs) who are struggling to access, or to remain accessing, educational provision.

This will be a Term Time only, Monday to Friday, 0900 til 1400 position. There will always be overtime available to supplement those hours if desired.

Sessions will usually begin by collecting the young person from their home, or school, and transporting them to an activity within the community, although there will also be some school-based sessions with those who are still struggling with the transition in and out of the school setting. At the end of the session, young people will be returned to their agreed drop off point.

All young people will have tailored support plans which will guide the staff team to promote the individual's long term goals throughout the session. Sessions will staffed at a 2:1 ratio (2 staff to 1 young person). All new staff will spend time working alongside other team members in a shadow-role before going out on sessions by themselves.

The successful applicant must hold a valid UK driving license, and be able and prepared to transport children and young people within their vehicle.

Training will be provided by the organisation with ongoing opportunities for career development supported internally. The service is ran by an Occupational Therapist and the role would suit applicants who are looking for direct experience facilitating co-regulation through activity engagement.

Although a base level of competency is required for this role, we will provide the further training required to fill any gaps in your abilities - our main focus when hiring for any position at SSP is attitude and personality. Our team is our biggest asset, and we will only add to it if we are confident you will be a positive addition.

Registration to the Social Care Register will be supported by the organisation.
