Our school supports learners aged 14-25 with a broad range of needs, including autism, learning disabilities, physical impairments, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Management
- Support the SLT in the overall leadership, strategic planning, and day-to-day running of the school.
- Deputise for the headteacher when required, ensuring operational effectiveness and safeguarding compliance.
- Line manage and support teaching and support staff to uphold inclusive, person-centred practices.
- Contribute to whole-school improvement planning, performance monitoring, and quality assurance.

SENCO Responsibilities (Statutory)
- Oversee and coordinate the provision for all students with SEN and disabilities, ensuring individual needs are met in line with EHCPs and SEND Code of Practice.
- Lead on EHCP reviews, annual review meetings, and liaise with local authorities, families, and external professionals.
- Monitor and track the progress of SEN students, using data to inform interventions and support strategies.
- Support teaching staff with differentiation, behaviour planning, and appropriate scaffolding for learners.
- Ensure that documentation, SEN registers, and support plans are up to date and effectively implemented.
- Lead and deliver staff CPD in SEN-specific areas, including autism strategies, positive behaviour support, and inclusive curriculum design.

Safeguarding & Welfare
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), promoting a culture of safety, care, and high vigilance across the school.
- Support the development of a therapeutic, trauma-informed learning environment that prioritises emotional regulation and well-being.

Essential Qualities:

- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and National SENCO Award
- Substantial experience working with young people with SEND, ideally within a leadership capacity
- Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, and inclusive teaching methods
- Strong communication and team leadership skills with a proactive and resilient mindset

Pay: £42,500.00-£48,000.00 per year
