Overview:
Our public engagement and outreach activities enable and empower RSC members, external partners, and the wider chemistry community to develop strong relationships and meaningful opportunities that increase the diversity of people contributing to and benefiting from the chemical sciences. Our work focusses on harnessing the enthusiasm and passion within the chemistry community and our networks to connect public audiences with the positive role of chemists and chemistry in society and the wider world.

As a Public Engagement Coordinator for the Royal Society of Chemistry, you will:
- Support the team with insights-gathering and RSC member consultations (e.g. organising, designing, taking notes from meetings, including focus groups and workshops).- Carry out desk research (e.g. analysing web sites, reports, statistics etc.) and use a range of evidence to write clear, concise briefing notes on barriers in public engagement, to shape support for capacity building within our community.- Plan, organise and minute internal meetings and following up the actions from them (an example of this would be Outreach Fund review meetings) and assist with team tasks such as budgeting.- Develop content to highlight ideas and tangible examples of public engagement and profiles of chemists supported through the Outreach Fund.- Other related tasks as required.

You will have:

- A first degree in science or at least two years' study towards one (a PhD or first degree in chemistry or working towards one is desirable).
- Strong communication skills and research skills.
- Interest in public engagement.
- Ability to organise and prepare meetings efficiently and to juggle priorities.
- Ability to use the MS Office suite easily to produce documents, analyse data, collaborate with others (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.).

The contractual base for this role is our Cambridge office, however we are currently embracing hybrid working, and therefore you will have the opportunity to also work from a UK location other than this, as agreed with your line manager. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will frequently and regularly attend the offices and occasionally travel as required in this role.
