Gatehouse Team Leader

DFDS Seaways are based on the Port of Immingham, which is the UK’s largest port by tonnage, handling around 46 million tonnes of cargo every year, currently operating on a site which spans 177-acres. To put that into perspective that is the same size as Disney Land, Paris It consists of 2470 trailer bays, 3000 automotive bays and facilitates the handling of 35 vessel sailings every week There are over 100 pieces of Terminal equipment including the largest mobile crane within Immingham. DFDS also operate 80,000sqm of warehousing capacity across 9 warehouses, storing the multitude of products that are shipped into Immingham,

We are looking for a Team Leader to cover the Gatehouse Operations in Immingham, including making sure that all units comply with what has been booked in the GTMS System, and that the traffic runs smoothly at all times. Carry out all gate controls and security checks, inspect all Import and Export units, to check for damage and complete the entry into GTMS, and obtain photographs as required. Check all visitors and drivers to the terminal to ensure that they comply with Displayed Terminal Notices, and ISPS Regulations Process units; update the systems for in-coming and outgoing cargo. produce GTMS Work orders so that cargo can be correctly discharged.

Receive cargo for storage, warehousing and transshipment, carry out Seal and Temperature checks as required. Liaise with Customer Operations Department ref bookings (Queries/Issues) Check Hazardous cargoes are suitable for shipping, and make sure all documentation is correct. (To comply with the IMDG Code) Carry out facility and safety audits every 2 months. Supervise, support and advise the Gate Controllers to help them to carry out their associated tasks, and resolve any operational problems. Ensure all aspects of ISPS security controls according to TRANSEC legislation are carried out in the correct manner.

Ensure all risk assessments are in place and that new assessments are carried out as and when required. Ensure all SSSOW (Safe Systems of Work) are followed and that all operatives have read, understood and signed all relevant procedures, tool box talks etc. Conduct appraisals in line with company policy with specific responsibility for developing employees.
