We're working with one of the World's fastest growing, award winning digital agencies, providing their expansive client list with a full range of creative and digital solutions from full scale, huge budget ecommerce websites to digital marketing, brand experience and pioneering technology solutions. With offices across Europe and the US, they are an employee focussed, innovative and thought provoking agency with plans to continue their growth.

As part of this growth, they are looking for a Head of Design for their Manchester-based Design and Technology team. The role is to lead and grow the creative offering and to make it a number 1 design destination for clients in the UK.

As the Head of Design, you will work alongside the Head of UX to craft award-winning digital experiences and intuitive interfaces. You’ll challenge the status quo, bringing new thinking and approaches to the agencies work. You’ll have the opportunity to work with both enterprise-level and SME organisations, delivering both B2B and B2C digital experiences across a range of platforms. This is a great opportunity for a talented design professional to step up their experience working with international brands in a fast-moving environment.

The Head of Design will be responsible for the creative output of the department and work with the managing directors to shape the design team's processes and approaches. This will involve reviewing team software and methods frequently to improve efficiency and stay up-to-date with developments in the industry. In addition to supporting new business opportunities, identifying skills gaps, training needs and recruitment opportunities.

You will act as a coach, mentor and leader, ensuring all the design team members are supported in their progress and development, identifying the right projects to help each team member grow and develop. You will inspire creativity and pride amongst the team, ensuring the department's creative reputation thrives and develops under your stewardship.

You will:

- Have at least 6 years of experience working in a similar role (preferably within an agency)
- Can establish, lead and guide a design department
- Have experience in all stages of the design process, from discovery through to execution
- Are passionate about design and ready to take any project to the next level
- Manage time efficiently and are capable of overseeing multiple billable projects simultaneously
- Have excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Are able to think quickly on your feet and come up with creative ideas that help define a project's creative direction
- Can successfully critique designers' work in order to get the best results
- Are industry aware, always on the lookout for fresh approaches to engage and motivate your team, creating a positive team culture
- Experience working in an agile environment using Digital Experience Platforms (DXPs), Design Systems, Digital Patterns and Interactions is preferred.
