Head of Warehousing

Our client are a highly successful Logistics and Transportation provider with outstanding infrastructure consisting of 4 locations, including the ability to offer very large-scale warehousing solutions. They provide a number of high-end solutions to theirindustry such as Contract Logistics. Due to their continued growth and success, they require a Head of Warehousing who can help take the business forward to new levels. **Opportunity overview**:

- The Head of Warehousing is responsible for managing and leading the division, and in doing so ensuring it’s successful performance and growth. The role holds full operational, budgetary, and H&S responsibility for the division, whilst also required to effectivelycontribute to the wider Leadership team.
- Leadership and continued development of people at all levels within the division is a key responsibility of the role, through consistently engaging and developing the people within whilst upholding standards of performance. Nurture and develop team to growfuture leadership team for division and business
- Strategic planning for the division to ensure close and appropriate alignment of supply and demand to service customers well whilst operating efficiently.
- Responsibility for management of customer relationships where required ensuring client satisfaction & excellent service levels

**Person Specification**:
Required skillset/ experience:

- Strong experience across a range of Warehousing environments, including but not limited to:

- Closed & Open book
- Ecommerce
- Traditional warehousing - full pallet, container receipt, replenishment, despatch
- Picking operations via range of methods
- Efficient operations - warehouse mapping, putaway strategy
- Parcel carrier management
- Warehousing expertise with demonstrable ability to manage operations efficiently
- Ability to utilise WMS systems to deliver service and efficiency benefits
- Experience of managing and delivering change
- Commercial acumen

**Responsibilities**

Staff & Personal related:
Overall responsibility for development of all persons within Warehousing division.Sustained and significant focus upon employee engagement through many means, particularly focused on Warehouse staff.

In doing so conduct and deliver meaningful communication to engage with entire team - e.g., via meetings/ briefs

Ensure documented, detailed training plans & records are in place for all person

**Operational aspects**:

- Consistently deliver KPI/ Service Levels - 'sit’ on these to ensure that the numbers and timescales necessary are achieved daily and any adverse variance is course-corrected immediately.
- Ensure necessary quality and compliance standards are upheld consistently
- Ensure that the correct procedures are in place for accurate stock control and proactive reporting on each site.
- Uphold and progress productivity standards and underlying process and activity to deliver benefit to the division and business
- Ensure continued stock integrity and maintenance of RF scanning across all accounts where applicable.
- Manage the relationship with WMS suppliers ensuring ongoing development of our value-added service offering
- Understand the key drivers of the operation which impact on productivity and profitability
- Actively drive improvements where performance falls below required levelsts
- Develop, implement and uphold SOPs for operation ensuring robust systems & process
- Create and maintain an innovative environment that encourages employee participation through continuous improvement, raising quality and productivity, sharing best practice across sites.
- Maintain regular contact with client base & attend key review meetings whilst acting as an escalated point of contact for dispute where needed.
- Meet key suppliers periodically to maintain ongoing efficient operations & control of cost.

**Financial duties**:

- Budgetary responsibility for £9m P&L, currently across 3 Warehouse, 60k pallet spaces, 600k sq ft. of space, and across a wide range of customers both open & closed book
- Achieve or exceed budgeted financial performance, leveraging running costs positively to allow for volume variance
- Execute and deliver strategic cost-saving initiatives as outlined and agreed
- Ensure that the operation is planned & controlled in a pro-active, constructive, and progressive manner to leverage costs positively vs. revenue
- Responsibility for introducing enhancements which bring financial/ efficiency benefits, whilst maintaining excellent customer service.
- Responsible for ensuring that all activity is charged correctly and for proactively identifying and positively resolving areas which are not commercially viable, and/ or are out of commercial scope, and bringing into documented commercial scope
- Involvement in commercial decisions & new business development at an advanced stage

**Strategic**:

- Strategic planning for the warehousing site infrastructure of the business in line with anticipated demand including sourcing of new sites
- Implement new business successfully as won/ converted
- Be focal point to lead Department through change required in line with Company Strategy
- Development and expansion of our service offering and value-added services to our clients
